Jennie Newman is an actress, comedian, and writer living in Los Angeles!
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Jennie started acting as soon as she could speak! She studied with The Atlanta Workshop Players, and appeared in numerous musicals and plays throughout her childhood.
A published poet by 13, Jennie was recruited to be a member of the Teens Only Street Team, a group of teens chosen to inspire the youth of Atlanta through performance and writing, and in 1999, they filmed a pilot for Media One Television.
A classically trained singer, Jennie began voice lessons at an early age and competed and placed both statewide and nationally in choral and operatic competitions. She was a member of many honor choirs throughout the state and southeast and for four years, Jennie had the honor of being chosen to participate in Georgia's All-State Chorus, a collection of the top 200 choral singers from across the state who had the privilege of training and performing under established conductors, such as the world renowned Moses Hogan.
Upon graduating High School, Jennie accepted a vocal scholarship to Huntingdon College where she pursued vocal music performance before transferring to Auburn University where she was accepted into their BFA Theatre Performance conservatory program and while there shifted her focus solely onto acting.
After college, Jennie spent 4 months touring the United States with The National Theatre for Arts and Education as a lead performer in the bilingual children's musical Mornings of April and May before relocating to Los Angeles to study comedy.
She is a graduate of the Upright Citizens Brigade Los Angeles Training Center, having been approved for advanced study in both Long Form and Sketch Comedy, and has also completed both levels of the UCBTLA Musical Improv program. Jennie can currently be seen on iO West's House Sketch Team Taste Test's monthly show.
